I'm super-excited about this dress. I whipped it up this past weekend, and it was a dress of firsts. I drafted the pattern on my own. I practiced using sheer fabric and french seams. I made up my own facing method for the neckline and armholes. I used lace as hem tape, and I used a machine-blind-hem for the first time. As a result, the inside of this dress looks just as nice as the outside--- maybe even better!
This isn't a fabric print that I would normally pick out, but I found this on sale for 99 cents a yard, so I figured that it wouldn't hurt to give the roses a try. And it turns out, that I really like it! It is sheer, so I also made a slim black skirt out of an old T-shirt to wear underneath. It's comfy and work-appropriate... who could ask for anything more?
