Mother's Day Corsage

This lovely lady is my mom! I sent her this corsage made from felt petals and sewn onto a felt backing for Mother's Day. She sent me this gorgeous picture wearing it! Doesn't she look fabulous!

The flower itself was easy to make. I was inspired by a similar corsage that I saw while browsing blogs a while back... unfortunately, I can't remember which one. I wish I could, because the one I found had this great idea to sew a secret pocket on the back! To make one, start by cutting out 2 circles for the back, and sandwich cardboard inbetween. Then, cut out petals from 3 different sized squares-- 1 inch, 1 1/4 inch, and 1 1/2 inch, and sew everything together, starting with the largest petals on the outside ring. There are many variations out there, but in my opinion, what my version special is that I hand-sewed each petal in. So much nicer than using glue, I think.
