Weekend T-shirt Skirt

This weekend, I made another really quick skirt. This one is made from an old men's T-shirt. This particular shirt is so soft, it's like wearing a hug!

p.s. Check out the enormous bun on the top of my head... my hubby thought I looked ridiculous! Ha!

Here's how you can make one of your own. What you'll need:
  • Men's T-shirt- the bigger, the better
  • Matching thread
  • 3/4" elastic
  • Ruler, marker
You'll want to take your waist measurement, to make sure that the top of the T-shirt will be big enough. Also, measure how long you'd like the skirt to be + 1 inch. (The length will be dependent on how long the shirt is, so again, the bigger shirt you start with, the more options you'll have.)
Next, cut off the sides to make a slight A-line, and cut a straight line across the top.Put the 2 pieces right sides together, and sew up the sides. I used a stretch stitch setting that my machine has (see below), but a zig-zag stitch would work fine too.
Now, fold over the top 1" and sew in place, leaving an opening. Thread your 3/4" elastic through the opening. Try the skirt on, and mark where the elastic overlaps. Sew the elastic to form a tube, and then sew the opening on the skirt top closed.

Ta-dah! You have a new T-shirt skirt to lounge around in!
